Then what did she say?

Thoughts on Christmas Day

I was listening to Morning Prayer Service, Christmas Day 2020 from Canterbury Cathedral, and the Dean, The Very Rever’d, Dr. Robert Willis,   read the following poem about Christmas, by Gerard Manley Hopkins. After hearing it, I went and  read it, and it indeed is perfect for this Christmas day, 2020. Especially with this weeks phenom of what I call the Christmas Star, and today being the first day of Advent.

The name of this poem, Moonless Darkness:

Moonless darkness stands between.
Past, the Past, no more be seen!
But the Bethlehem-star may lead me
To the sight of Him Who freed me
From the self that I have been.
Make me pure, Lord: Thou art holy;
Make me meek, Lord: Thou wert lowly;
Now beginning, and alway:
Now begin, on Christmas day.

As far as the picture(s), I took this new morning picture a few years back as the sun began to rise on top of the ridge I live on. The Christmas Star pic I got from some site of this week, and is public domain.

Merry Christmas.
